Public Notice Regarding COVID-19

To renew or open a new DBA, please complete the form located here.  You will notice that this form does require a Notary, however, Michigan’s Notary Law currently allows for electronic/remote notarization of documents.  For more information, please see Executive Order 2020-41.  Effective last week, my Office accepts electronically/remotely notarized Affidavits of Identity.  To find a notary, click here.

To renew a DBA, please have a check or money order for $14 payable to Ingham County Clerk ($16 for a new DBA).  My Office also accepts debit/credit card at an additional fee.  For more information, please see the section on fees below.

You may file your electronically notarized documents with the County Clerk via email at inghamclerk@ingham.org or the physical, original, documents via drop box at the Ingham County Jail (located in Mason) or US Mail to:

Doing Business As (DBA)/Co-Partnerships

Filing a DBA/Co-Partnership reserves the use of the named business name for use in Ingham County only.
The certificate expires after five (5) years.
If a DBA/Co-Partnership is not renewed, the name becomes available for someone else’s use.
All persons listed on the DBA/Co-Partnership form must provide their full names and addresses. DBA/Co-Partnership/Dissolution forms may be submitted in person or by mail.

Filing a DBA/Co-Partnership

DBA In Person

If you decide to file a DBA in person, all persons listed as owners must be present at the time of filing and must present valid government-issued picture identification
Co-Partnership In Person

If you decide to file a Co-Partnership in person, at least one person listed as an owner must be present to sign and certify the validity of the signatures of all co-partners. Valid government-issued identification must be presented.
Filing by Mail

If you decide to file a DBA or Co-Partnership by mail, all signatures must be properly notarized.
