Public Notice Regarding COVID-19
As of July 6, 2021, the Ingham County Clerk’s Office will reopen for walk-in customers at the Mason Office and Lansing Branch Office at the Veteran’s Memorial Courthouse. Please note, this announcement does not include the Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
The Clerk's Office will continue to grant appointments at both the Mason and Lansing locations and those that have an appointment will be granted first priority over walk-ins when arriving. You may contact 517-676-7201 to schedule an appointment.

In addition, a drop box has been installed in the lobby of the Mason Jail.
Birth, Death, and Marriage requests, along with Campaign Finance and Election filings may be dropped off for processing.
Documents in the Dropbox are picked up daily, Monday through Thursday. The Mason Jail is located at 640 N Cedar St, Mason, MI 48854.
The Mason Jail lobby is open to the public 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, there is a button on the front of the door that can be used to enter the lobby to drop off documents outside of regular hours.
If you are dropping off documents to the drop box outside of the Mason Jail’s lobby hours please press the button on the front door and your reasoning. Someone will allow access to the lobby for the purpose of document delivery.
Concealed Pistol Licensing
The Office will be continuing to process applications for new Concealed Pistol Licenses through the scheduling of appointments. To request an appointment to process your CPL application with the Office, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 517-676-7201.
You may submit an application for renewal of your CPL by going to the State of Michigan’s Online CPL Renewal site. Requests for Emergency CPL’s may be made by requesting an appointment with the Office. You are welcome to contact the Office by phone or email for more information.

Ingham County Clerk
The County Clerk is elected for a four-year term and is responsible for keeping records of birth, death, assumed names, co-partnerships, and issuing and filing marriage licenses. In addition, the Clerk's Office processes concealed pistol licenses and notary applications. The Clerk also serves as the Clerk of the Board of Commissioners, the Board of Canvassers, and the Circuit Court. The Clerk is also a member of the Plat Board and Election Commission. The Clerk also serves as an officiant for wedding ceremonies.
One of the more prominent responsibilities of the Clerk is serving as the chief election official in the County. As such, the Clerk administers all election functions required by law. Part of those duties include the supervision of all national, state, and local elections and also the training of election workers in the County for those communities with a population of under 10,000. The Clerk is also responsible for the administration of the Michigan Campaign Finance Reporting Act for those candidates that file for office at the local level.
